Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha marks the ceremonial start of the Annual Shri Amarnath Yatra by performing the 'Pratham Puja' in Jammu & Kashmir

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha virtually attended the 'Pratham Puja' of Amarnath at Raj Bhawan in Srinagar, signalling the commencement of the annual Amarnath Yatra.

During the video conference, he expressed his commitment to and support for the sacred journey, as well as the significance of faith and unity.

Regarding the preparations for the Yatra, LG Manoj Sinha stated, "Starting 29 June, devotees from across the country can have the darshan of 'Baba Amarnath.' All necessary facilities have been arranged for devotees, and security measures are in place."

Preparations for the upcoming 52-day Yatra have been finalised with assistance from the Indian Army and local aides.

Authorities have been clearing snow, erecting tents for Yatris near the cave, and finalising all arrangements, except for the last stretch of road where snow-clearing operations are still ongoing. Locals are enthusiastic and ready to serve pilgrims visiting the holy Amarnath cave.

Additionally, comprehensive security arrangements have been implemented to ensure a safe and incident-free Yatra.

A high alert has been sounded in Jammu, with security forces on standby and additional measures taken to tighten security across key vulnerable, terror-sensitive zones.

Speaking to reporters, ADGP Anand Jain stated, "We are reviewing the arrangements made for the Amarnath Yatra.

We will ensure the implementation of cut-off timings so that the flow of the Yatra is smooth. More police and traffic police will be deployed on roads under construction."

The first batch of pilgrims for Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2024 is scheduled to be flagged off from Jammu on 29 June.
