Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh met with students from Imphal College and Ibotonsana Higher Secondary School on September 9 to address their concerns amid ongoing unrest in the state.
The Chief Minister described the meeting as "fruitful" in a post on the social media platform X.
Held at his Secretariat, the meeting provided students with an opportunity to voice their worries about the impact of the disturbances on their education.
Singh emphasised the significance of their feedback and reassured them that the government is committed to resolving the issues affecting the region.
“The voices of our youths are important, and together, we will strive for a better future for Manipur,” Singh stated in his X post.
He further assured, “We are considering every measure to resolve the unrest at the earliest so that the students can resume their classes peacefully and pursue their academic careers. The state government gives utmost importance to resolve the grievances of the students concerning the prevailing situation in the state.”
The unrest in Manipur has prompted students to take to the streets in protest, highlighting their frustrations over the crisis. Demonstrations have been ongoing, with security forces deployed to manage the situation.
The students’ demands include the removal of the state’s Security Adviser and the transfer of the Unified Command from its current leadership to the state government.
These protests reflect the broader discontent and urgency among the student community for a swift resolution to the state’s challenges.
As the situation remains tense, Chief Minister Singh’s engagement with students aims to address their concerns and demonstrate the government’s commitment to restoring normalcy and ensuring that educational activities can continue without further disruption.
