In recognition of the popularity of taekwondo in Mizoram, Seoul-based KUKKI-WON, the apex body of Korean martial art taekwondo, conferred an honorary black belt on CM Lalduhoma at the CM's office in Aizawl on Friday.

The Chief Minister, a former IPS officer, was awarded an honorary 7th Dan black belt along with a certificate of appreciation, showcasing his dedication and skill in martial arts.

Expressing his gratitude, CM Lalduhoma attributed the honor to the achievements of Mizoram Amateur Taekwondo Association (MATA) and taekwondo fighters from Mizoram who have excelled nationally, promoting the sport in India. He extended his best wishes for their future success.

Officials from MATA highlighted that the honor bestowed upon the Chief Minister acknowledges his contribution to the development of sports in India.

After receiving the honor, CM Lalduhoma said, "The reason I am being conferred this black belt is due to the exemplary performances of the Mizoram Amateur Taekwondo Association and our fighters' success at the national level." He expressed delight and wished them success in their endeavors.

Lalduhoma is the second CM of Mizoram to receive this honor after Lal Thanhawla, who received the same title in 2012.

The 7th Dan Black Belt, the highest in the country, signifies Lalduhoma's exceptional skill and dedication to taekwondo. Notably, former Chief Minister Lalthan Hawla was awarded an Honorary 1 Dan Black belt in 2012.
