The Goa Police has managed to locate a 36-year-old Nepali woman who had gone missing on Wednesday, informed Superintendent of Police Akshat Kaushal during a press conference.
The woman, identified as the daughter of a Nepali mayor, was reported missing at the Mandrem police station, prompting the formation of special teams dedicated to her search, SP Kaushal stated.
Initially presumed to be a tourist visiting Goa, the missing woman was last seen at a wellness resort in Mandrem, according to available information.
Intensive investigations ensued, with scrutiny of CCTV footage and search parties combing through hospitals and beaches across Goa throughout the night. Fortunately, the concerted efforts paid off, and the woman was located the following morning.
Expressing satisfaction, he said, “I am happy to report that she is fine and that necessary NGO support has been provided to her. First aid is also given. If required, we will also take legal action. Her family members were in touch with Goa Police, and we also kept taking updates from them. The safety of a missing girl was our priority.”
Providing further details, SP Kaushal disclosed that the woman had left her mobile phone behind, hindering communication with her family.
However, she had not suffered any physical injuries and was currently undergoing counselling provided by the NGO, he informed.
Highlighting the police’s commitment to missing complaints, he said that such cases are dealt with with full effort. He dismissed any speculation of kidnapping, attributing the incident to the woman losing her way and not being familiar with Goa's geography.
“This also shows how we worked and ensured such positive results. There is no kidnapping angle in this case. She missed her path. No misinformation must be spread against her,” he added further.
SP Kaushal clarified that the case was unrelated to the upcoming Lok Sabha elections and urged against spreading misinformation regarding the incident.
