A newly built temple of a local deity was gutted after a massive fire broke out in Rampur subdivision of Shimla on Sunday evening. No casualties have been reported in the incident.
As per the district administration, the fire started around 7.50 pm at the newly constructed Jharu Nag Devta temple in Shaneri village.
Fire brigade teams and local residents tried to control the blaze, but it spread quickly and reduced the three-storey structure to ashes. The fire was later brought under control by the fire department.
Officials from the district administration said the cause of the fire and the total loss were being assessed.
Locals said the temple had been built at a cost of around Rs 2.5 crore, and its Pran Pratishtha ceremony was planned for next year.
