Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Tuesday lauded Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari, calling him an exemplary figure in project management and infrastructure development. He added that there was no better teacher than him.
Speaking at the convocation ceremony of Graphic Era Deemed University in Dehradun, CM Dhami said, “"If you want to learn the art of project management, then there can be no better teacher than Gadkari ji... His speciality is to complete very important projects at a low cost. You have won the hearts of the people by building a network of roads from small villages to remote hilly areas of the state.”
The Chief Minister also highlighted the state government’s efforts to transform Uttarakhand into an education hub under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “Courses in artificial intelligence, machine learning, and big data are being introduced in colleges. We are also placing a strong emphasis on scientific research,” he added.
"Under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi, our state government is working to make Uttarakhand a leader in education, like other regions. Machine learning, AI and big data courses are being conducted in colleges. Scientific research is being promoted in the state," Dhami said.
Meanwhile, in a significant administrative move earlier in the day, CM Dhami ordered the suspension of two senior Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers and one Provincial Civil Service (PCS) officer in connection with the Haridwar land scam.
According to an official release from the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), a departmental inquiry has been initiated against a total of 12 officials, including District Magistrate Kamendra Singh, former Municipal Commissioner Varun Chaudhary, and Sub-Divisional Magistrate Ajayveer Singh. The scam involves alleged irregularities in land allocation and transfer in Haridwar. The crackdown is seen as part of CM Dhami’s broader push for clean governance and administrative accountability in the state.
Earlier on May 25, in another move to bring an end to corruption in the state, the Uttarakhand CM directed officials to conduct campaigns against corruption more effectively and submit detailed reports of actions taken so far in cases related to conversion, as per a release.
