Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister, Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu today said there was no financial crisis in Himachal Pradesh, it’s just the crisis of ‘financial discipline’.
Talking to media persons here, he said the Congress government was taking the state out of the financial crisis and we are trying to discipline the finances. “In fact, we have already come out of the financial crisis and we are now proceeding towards discipline and will take certain decisions to make the state self-reliant,” he said.
“We don’t want to stop the salaries. We are just correcting the system. When we take steps for financial discipline, there are some issues. The employees will get their salaries. The employees of Boards and Corporations have got the salaries. Things need to be straightened in the government departments that we are doing,” Sukhu said.
He blamed the previous BJP government for the financial mess in the state and said the former Chief Minister, Jai Ram Thakur gave subsidies and benefits, whether on water or electricity, to the people who were paying huge income tax. The previous BJP government just doled out money from the public exchequer for the people who could afford it. The poor people should get such benefits, not the rich,” he said
The Chief Minister said the Congress government was ready for discussion on the ‘financial mismanagement’ in the state, which led to such a state. “Why are BJP leaders now running away? They should participate in the discussion on the financial crisis in Himachal Pradesh. We will tell people who created it and how the ‘Double Engine’ government misused the public exchequer to benefit the rich," he said.
