Former Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan lent his support to his brother, Yusuf Pathan, as they embarked on a spirited campaign rally in Baharampur, vying for the Trinamool Congress.
The city witnessed the dynamic duo traversing through its streets, igniting fervour among the electorate ahead of the impending fourth phase of elections slated for May 13.
Irfan Pathan's presence illuminated the roads of Baharampur, as he joined forces with Yusuf Pathan in an extensive roadshow spanning key areas such as Rezinagar and Beldanga.
Prior to Irfan's arrival, Trinamool Congress leader Abhishek Banerjee had on Wednesday supported Yusuf's campaign with his impassioned appeals to the electorate.
However, the electoral battle in Baharampur isn't devoid of challenges, with Yusuf Pathan facing formidable opponents like Congress stalwart Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, the incumbent MP since 1999 who is contesting for his sixth consecutive term from the seat, and BJP's Nirmal Kumar Saha.
Meanwhile, the Congress has lodged a complaint with the Election Commission regarding the purported use of photographs from the 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup in Yusuf Pathan's election campaigns.
The complaint spotlighted banners and posters allegedly featuring images commemorating India's victory in the cricketing spectacle.
Polling in Baharampur is scheduled to be held on May 13 in the fourth of the seven-phase Lok Sabha elections in West Bengal.
