A new plea has been filed in a local court urging the Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi Trust to display a notice board at the temple premises in Mathura, explicitly stating that the current sanctum sanctorum is not the authentic birthplace of Lord Krishna.

Advocate PV Raghunandan, based in Delhi, submitted the plea in the court of Civil Judge (Senior Division) Anupama Singh.

Pankaj Joshi, the advocate representing the plaintiff, informed that the case has been accepted for a hearing, but as of now, no specific date has been scheduled.

According to the plea, the plaintiff contends that the original sanctum sanctorum of the ancient Keshavdev temple was allegedly demolished by the Mughal ruler Aurangzeb, and in its place, the Shahi Idgah mosque was constructed.

In light of this historical assertion, the petitioner insists that devotees visiting the current sanctum sanctorum of the Krishna Janmabhoomi temple should be explicitly informed through a notice board that the present site is not the actual sanctum sanctorum.

Joshi explained that the plea seeks a court order mandating the installation of a notice board to convey this information to the devotees and visitors.

The defendants in this case include the Uttar Pradesh government, Mathura municipal corporation, and the State Archaeology Department, among others, as mentioned by Joshi.

This legal move underscores the ongoing dispute surrounding the Krishna Janmabhoomi temple in Mathura.

The petitioner's claim of the original sanctum sanctorum being demolished and replaced by the Shahi Idgah mosque is a contentious historical narrative that has fueled various legal battles over the years.

The plea raises questions about the authenticity of the present sanctum sanctorum and calls for transparency to ensure that devotees are aware of the historical context surrounding the site.

As the court considers the plea, it adds another layer to the complex legal landscape surrounding religious sites in India, where historical narratives intersect with contemporary legal interpretations, often sparking heated debates and disputes.
