Madhya Pradesh's Chief Minister, Mohan Yadav, inaugurated an intra-state air service named 'PM Shri Paryatan Vayu Seva' on Thursday by launching its maiden flight from Bhopal to Jabalpur.
This initiative aims to connect cities within Madhya Pradesh including Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur, Gwalior, Ujjain, Rewa, Khajuraho, and Singrauli via air travel, officials stated.
During the launch event, Yadav personally handed out boarding passes to passengers and inaugurated a ticket-booking counter.
Operated by the Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board (MPTB) in partnership with M/s Jet Serv Aviation Private Limited (Flyola), the service has been launched under a Public Private Partnership (PPP) model.
To encourage usage, a 50% discount on fares will be offered for the first 30 days. The air service promises to significantly reduce travel time, with a flight between Bhopal and Indore taking just 55 minutes.
Initially deploying six-seater aircraft with twin engines, officials plan to expand the service based on public response. "If the response is positive, we will scale up to 11-seater and eventually 20-seater aircraft," said Sheo Shankar Shukla, Principal Secretary and Managing Director of MPTB.
Shukla assured that the aircraft meet international safety standards and pledged to offer reliable service at competitive prices.
The launch marks a significant step towards enhancing intra-state connectivity in Madhya Pradesh, potentially revolutionizing regional travel options.
