Security forces on Tuesday arrested two hybrid militants supposedly behind a recent Pahalgam terror attack in which a tourist couple from Rajasthan was injured, officials said.
The arrested duo has been identified as Waseem Ahmad Shah and Adnan Ahmad Beigh, both residents of Anantnag.
A pistol with a magazine and eight rounds, along with a grenade and 120 AK rounds, were also recovered from their possession, the officials added.
On May 18, the terrorists opened fire on a tourist couple from Jaipur, Rajasthan, in an open tent in the Pahalgam tourist resort.
It remains to be confirmed if the apprehended duo was involved in the May 18 attack on the couple, Tabrez and Farah, in the Yanner region of Pahalgam, which is a popular tourist destination in south Kashmir's Anantnag district.
The Jammu and Kashmir Police have not issued an official statement yet.
The couple was fired at by two motorcycle-borne assassins while they along with children were exiting a tempo car and checking into a hotel for dinner in the neighbourhood.
The woman, Farah was wounded in the shoulder, while her husband Tabrez was severely injured in the face.
They were then taken to the Army's 92 Base Hospital in Srinagar for treatment.
Following the attack on the tourist couple, another militant killed a former Sarpanch in Heerpora, Shopian district, in South Kashmir.
