Members of the Rajput community in Rajasthan have joined forces to address the security concerns surrounding Shiv MLA Ravindra Bhati, an independent candidate from the Barmer-Jaisalmer Lok Sabha constituency.
Bhati recently received death threats from the Rohit Godara gang via social media. Responding to this urgent situation, Rajput community members in Jaisalmer and Jodhpur have appealed to Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma for Z+ security for Bhati.
In Jaisalmer, citizens from various segments of society gathered on Tuesday to voice their concerns, petitioning the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) in the name of the Chief Minister for enhanced security measures for Bhati.
Sawai Singh Deora highlighted Bhati's immense popularity and public support, which could lead to his victory in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections by defeating opposing candidates and winning the hearts of 36 communities.
Deora further emphasised that Bhati's rising popularity has earned him national recognition, causing envy among some politicians who are resorting to issuing death threats via social media through anti-social elements of their gang. Concerns over Bhati's safety have sparked outrage among his supporters, with 36 communities in Jaisalmer submitting a memorandum demanding Z plus security for him.
Similarly, in Jodhpur, the Rajput community rallied for Bhati's safety, submitting a memorandum to the District Collector demanding Z Plus security.
Hundreds of officials and youth gathered at Marwar Rajput Sabha Bhawan before proceeding to the District Collectorate office to hand over the memorandum to the ADM in the District Collectorate demanding security for Bhati.
Additionally, they protested outside the Balotra SP office, demanding the withdrawal of a case registered against Bhati and his supporters, deeming it unjustified.
Speaking exclusively to NDTV, Marwar Rajput Samaj President Hanuman Singh Khangata expressed concerns over Bhati's safety, citing previous incidents where individuals, including Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi, faced threats without timely security provision, resulting in tragic deaths. Khangata emphasised the urgent need for action against the threatening individuals and called for Z Plus category security to be provided to Ravindra Singh Bhati without delay.
