A provincial armed constabulary (PAC) commando sustained injuries in an "accidental firing" while cleaning his weapon at his post within the Ram Janmabhoomi complex in Ayodhya on Tuesday evening, according to police sources.
Platoon commander Ram Prasad (50) was quickly taken to the Ayodhya Medical College and later referred to KGMU Lucknow due to the severity of his condition, authorities stated.
Having served on security duty at the Ram Janmabhoomi complex in Ayodhya for approximately six months, Prasad encountered the unfortunate incident while cleaning his firearm at his designated post, informed Inspector General of Police Pravin Kumar.
Dr. Vinod Kumar Arya, emergency in-charge at the medical college in Ayodhya, disclosed that the bullet struck Ram Prasad on the left side of his chest, necessitating his referral to KGMU Lucknow for further medical attention.
Prasad hails from Achalpur village in Amethi district.
