Junior doctors have withdrawn indefinite hunger strike to press for their demands on the RG Kar rape and murder case as well upgrade of security infrastructure at medical establishments across the state.
The decision came after a team of medics representing junior doctor’s front met Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday at Nabanna.
Live-streaming of the meeting was arranged by the state government— which was a demand of the protesting medics.

Besides CM Banerjee, representatives from the medical fraternity were also present at the meeting.
Medics tabled their key demands in front of the chief minister with the hope that they would be fulfilled.
While no clarity has been received on the removal of state health secretary NS Nigam — it was a one of the key demands — however, it has been assured that election to the students’ council and resident doctors’ association in every medical college will be completed by March-April 2025.
Moreover, Abhaya’s parents also met agitating medics after the meeting with CM and requested them to withdraw from the fast-unto-death protest.
