Sensitized by the stories of the youth increasingly slipping into drug addiction, an artist and social activist in Shimla, Taruna Mishra has written a community song in Hindi language ‘Nashe sey door tum raho, milegi tumhe har khushi, nashe meiy doob kar kyun kar rahei ho khudkushi’.
The song is composed by Prof. Chaman Verma and seeks to create awareness among the school and college students in the state to stay away from drugs and not to waste their precious youth and life in drug addiction. It motivates the youngsters to live their life to their full potential as sky is the limit for them and they are the future of the country.
The song is sung by Sachin, Shashi, Bulbul and Isha, local singers and was released by Chief Minister, Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu in Shimla.
“It gives me pain when I see the suffering of the parents, who helplessly handle their children indulging in synthetic drug use. I have also have interacted with young drug addicts in hospitals and rehabilitation centres and have felt the agony. I strongly wanted to do something on the issue. Besides, counseling, as a music lover and actor, I have this empowering tool which help in sensitizing and creating awareness,” said Taruna Mishra.
She said her aim was to sensitize the young minds about the importance of life and their importance in their family and in nation building.
“The parents are losing young children due to the addiction and overdose of synthetic drugs. The lyrics of the song are motivational, creating a sense of responsibility and sensibility towards their duties and importance for their country and parents,” she added.
Releasing her song, the Chief Minister lauded her concern and effort to create awareness among the children falling prey to drugs. He said it was a burning issue and such efforts by the community were must to check this menace.
