In a dramatic turn in the high-profile stock market trading scam case, Sumi Borah, one of the prime suspects, has announced her intention to surrender to the Assam Police amid escalating pressure.
Borah, who has been evading arrest with her husband Tarkik Borah, publicly declared her decision on social media, vehemently denying the charges against her.

"Even before the court has had a chance to prove me guilty, the media has destroyed my life with its allegations," Borah wrote. She expressed frustration at what she perceives as targeted harassment and claimed that the case had "unexpectedly" turned against her. “I didn’t escape,” Borah asserted, “but I was forced into hiding due to the overwhelming burden of these false allegations.”
Borah explained that her decision to go into hiding was driven by the unbearable nature of the accusations, but she now feels prepared to face the authorities.
“Today, after gaining confidence, I have decided to surrender and cooperate fully with Assam Police,” she stated.
The police investigation into the alleged scam has intensified significantly in recent weeks.
On the same day as Borah’s announcement, Assam Police, acting on directives from Director General of Police (DGP) GP Singh, made a key breakthrough by arresting Amlan Borah, Tarkik Borah’s brother, in Bihar.
This arrest is seen as a crucial development in understanding the full scope of the couple’s alleged operations.
In addition, the police have seized a Fortuner Sigma 4 vehicle registered in Tarkik Borah’s name in Meghalaya. The vehicle, with registration number AS01FL8009, is believed to be linked to the scam and is currently under investigation.
The case has drawn considerable public interest, not only due to the scale of the alleged financial fraud but also because of the high-profile nature of the individuals involved.
