Two Bangladeshis detected in Assam, sent back across border

The duo had reportedly entered India through the Madhoppur-Agartala route and were en route to Bengaluru.

The duo, identified as Masum Khan (R) from Modelganj, Bangladesh, and Sonia Akhtar (L) from Dhaka, was intercepted at Badarpur railway station on Friday night by the Assam Police.


Two Bangladeshi nationals who illegally entered India were apprehended in Assam and swiftly sent back to their country, informed Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

 

The duo, identified as Masum Khan from Modelganj, Bangladesh, and Sonia Akhtar from Dhaka, was intercepted at Badarpur railway station on Friday night by the Assam Police.

 

They had reportedly entered India through the Madhoppur-Agartala route and were en route to Bengaluru.

 

In a statement shared on social media platform X, Sarma praised the swift action by law enforcement. "Two Bangladeshi nationals were apprehended at Badarpur railway station by @assampolice," Sarma wrote.

 

 

The Chief Minister further stated that the Assam Police, in coordination with the Border Security Force (BSF), successfully pushed the individuals back across the border.

 

Sarma also highlighted that over 30 Bangladeshis attempting to enter India without proper documentation have been pushed back from Assam in the past month.

 

He noted that many of these individuals were headed to southern Indian cities, including Bengaluru, in search of work in the textile industry.
