Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu today urged Union Home Minister Amit Shah to release Rs 9,042 crore to Himachal as per the Post-Disaster Need Assessment (PDNA) done by a Central team of large scale damage caused.

Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has stated that he recently met Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi to discuss several key issues concerning the state.

Addressing the media, the Chief Minister said he urged the Union Home Minister to expedite the release of ₹9,042 crore under the Post-Disaster Needs Assessment (PDNA) for the financial year 2023-24.

He emphasised that timely disbursement of these funds was essential for the state’s recovery efforts following natural disasters, and Amit Shah assured prompt action in this regard.

The meeting also included discussions on tackling drug abuse in Himachal Pradesh. Sukhu informed the Union Minister that drug-related cases in the state had witnessed a 30% decline over the past two years. He further mentioned that the state government was introducing new legislation in the Vidhan Sabha to combat the drug menace more effectively.

Responding to queries regarding the Congress party’s organisational matters, Sukhu stated that State Congress in-charge Rajni Patil remained in regular communication with party leaders in Himachal Pradesh.

He added that the announcement of new office bearers for the state unit would take place soon, following due consultations and approval from the party high command.

The Chief Minister also addressed concerns about a recent technical snag at Shimla Airport, which nearly resulted in a mishap. A Delhi-Shimla flight, carrying Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri and Director General of Police Dr. Atul Verma, encountered difficulties during landing due to the airport's short runway.

Sukhu said he would soon take up the matter with the Union Minister for Civil Aviation to ensure necessary safety measures are implemented.
