Union minister Shivraj Chouhan to visit Punjab on Sept 4

Chouhan spoke to the Punjab governor and chief minister to know the scale of the devastation caused by heavy rain

Union Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan will visit flood-affected areas of Punjab on Thursday to take stock of the damage and assess the needs of affected farmers. Other members of the delegation include Union Minister of State for Railways and Rajya Sabha MP Ravneet Singh Bittu and BJP state president Sunil Jakhar.

 

Chouhan spoke to Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria and Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Wednesday to know the scale of the devastation caused by heavy rain. “I discussed the flood situation arising due to heavy rainfall in Punjab with the Governor of Punjab, Chief Minister and Agriculture Minister and obtained detailed information,” he said.

 

AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal will also visit flood-affected areas of Punjab on Thursday to take stock of the situation, along with the CM. He will inspect the relief work being carried out in the state and interact with the affected people. Kejriwal said that every day, AAP leaders, MLAs, MPs and common citizens from Delhi would carry trucks of relief supplies to Punjab.

 

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, too, is likely to visit flood-affected areas of Punjab. The date of the visit has not been finalised as yet. It is learnt that he might visit Sultanpur Lodhi or Ajnala.
