Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Monday launched the promo and poster for Mairai Gaon Ki Baat, the first-ever Jaunsari feature film, highlighting the state’s commitment to promoting regional culture.
Speaking at an event held at the Chief Minister’s residence, Dhami said the film offers an opportunity to showcase the rich culture, heritage, and customs of the Jaunsar region.
“The first Jaunsari feature film since the state’s formation is now ready,” Dhami stated, as quoted in an official press release.
“This film will help preserve and present our cultural heritage to the world.” He appealed to audiences to watch the film and emphasised the state government’s support for regional cinema through a newly introduced film policy aimed at fostering films in local dialects.
The Chief Minister congratulated actor Abhinav Chauhan, noting the success of his previous Garhwali film, Asgar. He praised the cast and crew for their work in capturing Jaunsar-Bawar’s traditional lifestyle and beautiful landscapes, adding, “I hope this film will find a special place in the hearts of culture lovers.”
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Dhami further expressed his enthusiasm for the project, calling it a significant step toward preserving and promoting Jaunsar-Bawar’s folk culture and history. The film features local actors and was filmed entirely in scenic locations across Uttarakhand.
The government’s support for regional films, Dhami said, underscores the potential for the people of Uttarakhand to excel in all fields, especially cultural preservation and artistic expression.
