Minister of Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw visited the newly constructed Ganga Rail Bridge in Prayagraj on Sunday. He also inspected the Phaphamau area in preparation for the Maha Kumbh 2025. During his visit, Vaishnaw visited a local book stall, purchasing two books and paying via UPI.

Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath addressed state police personnel on Saturday, emphasising the need for vigilant and approachable policing ahead of the upcoming Maha Kumbh. He highlighted the pivotal role of law enforcement in ensuring public safety and maintaining order during the massive event.

"Being a citizen of an independent country, the police department should be friendly towards the public," said CM Yogi. "Old people used to say that if you lose your sight, an accident happens. I think this is the case with the police. As soon as your vigilance is reduced, there is an enemy and an opponent."

The Chief Minister stressed the importance of proactive measures to ensure the smooth operation of the Maha Kumbh, urging police officers to remain alert and committed to their duties. He also warned against complacency, stating, "Even a small crowd can create chaos and pose a threat to lives and property. We should ensure that no animal or person who is an enemy of society or the country enters."

The Maha Kumbh 2025 is set to begin on January 13, with the government preparing to accommodate an estimated 45 crore visitors from 75 countries. In anticipation of the large crowds, significant infrastructure and service upgrades are being made.

A special floating jetty at Sangam will allow devotees to bathe comfortably, with nearby facilities for changing clothes. A 100-bed hospital is nearing completion at Parade Ground to provide healthcare services to devotees and saints.

For accommodation, natural huts and world-class tents are being constructed, offering options ranging from villas and Maharaja suites to Swiss cottages and dormitories. Prices for lodging will range from Rs 1,500 to Rs 35,000 per day, with additional charges for extra guests set between Rs 4,000 and Rs 8,000.
