Once regarded as one of the most arid and underdeveloped regions, Bundelkhand is now experiencing a significant surge in development. With recent ground-breaking ceremonies for projects exceeding Rs 10 lakh crore, the entire region is poised to emerge as Uttar Pradesh's new energy hub.
Approximately 10 solar energy initiatives have been launched in Bundelkhand, aiming to generate over 3,000 megawatts of electricity. These projects are slated for establishment in the districts of Jalaun, Jhansi, Lalitpur, Banda, Chitrakoot, and Mahoba. Notably, Jhansi district alone is set to host three solar power units.
The Yogi Adityanath government's endeavors to foster development and infrastructure in Bundelkhand since 2017 have attracted investor interest in the region. Another 29 substantial projects, valued at approximately Rs 30,000 crore, were initiated earlier.
In Jhansi district, Tusco is spearheading the establishment of a 600 MW solar plant costing Rs 3,430 crore, potentially creating 300 job opportunities. Similarly, Fourth Partner Energy Private Ltd aims to set up a 100 MW solar plant at Rs 1,200 crore, expected to generate over 1,000 employment opportunities.
Sun Source Energy is gearing up for a 135 MW open-access solar power project worth Rs 600 crore, potentially providing employment for 2,000 individuals. In Lalitpur district, Tusco is investing Rs 3,450 crore in a 600 MW solar power plant, offering 300 job opportunities.
Moreover, Surya Urja Four Private Ltd is embarking on a 10-15 MW solar power project valued at Rs 150 crore, expected to employ 200 individuals. Avada Ind Solar Private Ltd plans to establish a 750 MW solar power project in Banda, investing Rs 350 crore.
Additional projects include a 15 MW solar power initiative by Sunsure Solar Park Private Ltd at Rs 62 crore in Chitrakoot, and an 800 MW solar power project by Tusco Ltd costing Rs 4,700 crore in Chitrakoot, providing employment for 400 people.
Shree Cement Private Ltd is investing Rs 202 crore in a solar power plant, while Tusco Ltd is initiating the 155 MW Arjun Sagar Floating Solar Power Project worth Rs 1008 crore in Mahoba, expected to employ 78 individuals.
IB Vogt Solar Four Private Ltd is also venturing into solar power projects in Mahoba, investing Rs 80 crore.
Moreover, significant projects in the Bundelkhand region include a Railway’s LBH coach project and track work plant worth Rs 2,840 crore, a private university by Sant Maa Karma Manav Samvardhan Samiti valued at Rs 501 crore, a stone mining project worth Rs 30 crore, and a gun propellant project worth Rs 20 crore.
