Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu announced that the World Bank has agreed to provide a ₹15,000 crore loan for the construction of Amaravati's first phase, with work expected to begin in December.
During a press conference, Naidu expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who he met recently, and revealed that the Centre will release ₹12,500 crore for the Polavaram project.
Naidu also mentioned that Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL) plans to invest ₹85,000 crore in an oil refinery in the state, with a feasibility study underway to select a location. Additionally, he discussed the state’s ambitious Swarna Andhra Pradesh 2047 vision, which aims to make Andhra Pradesh a USD 2.5 trillion economy with a per capita income of USD 40,000.
Regarding infrastructure, Naidu confirmed that the Visakhapatnam International Airport at Bhogapuram will be operational by December next year, and the GMR group has been asked to establish a Civil Aviation University nearby.
He also highlighted his discussions with the Prime Minister about the state's financial challenges and emphasized his efforts to dispose of the 85 lakh tons of garbage accumulated under the previous administration.
Naidu criticised the former YSRCP government for mismanaging central funds, leading to a halt in fund disbursements. He also requested the Centre's support for a Greenfield Expressway between Vijayawada and Hyderabad and a 185 km-long Outer Ring Road at Amaravati. Furthermore, he noted that the union government is exploring options to support the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant.
Naidu, currently in the national capital, has met with PM Modi and Union Ministers Nitin Gadkari and Hardeep Singh Puri to discuss these matters.
