Learning from lifeforms surviving on hydrogen

Archaea, a third form of life discovered in the 1970s that live by extracting energy from hydrogen, forms ultra-small cells to minimise their energy needs. Many are also parasites of other microbes, stealing organic matter to fuel their own growth.
