A mosquito killing device has caught the fancy of Anand Mahindra, founder of the Mahindra group.
Mahindra says he wants the compact laser-powered device designed by a Chinese engineer to detect and eliminate mosquitoes, as dengue cases surge in Mumbai.
On Saturday, Mahindra took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to share a video of the device, which functions like a small-scale anti-missile defense system adapted to target mosquitoes.
"With dengue on the rise in Mumbai, I'm trying to figure out how to acquire this miniature cannon, invented by a Chinese man, which can seek out & destroy mosquitoes!" Mahindra wrote.
The device, created by a Chinese engineer, is equipped with a radar system to detect mosquitoes and a laser pointer to destroy them.
The engineer modified the radar of an electric car to detect insects, effectively turning it into a mosquito-hunting machine.
He has also kept a detailed record of the mosquitoes eliminated by the device in what he calls a 'Death note'.
