The vibrant hues of the purple revolution swept through the lavender fields of Bhaderwah in Jammu and Kashmir took center stage on the tableau of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) during the Republic Day parade.
"This innovative display not only celebrates India's scientific prowess but also pays homage to the diligent farmers of Bhaderwah and neighboring regions who have transformed into successful entrepreneurs in recent years" said a senior CSIR official.
The CSIR tableau captivated spectators as it featured not only the stunning purple landscapes but also highlighted India's strides in agricultural innovation.
Notably, the tableau proudly showcased the country's first women-friendly compact electric tractor, a groundbreaking creation developed by CSIR-Central Mechanical Engineering Research Institute in Durgapur.
In addition to the electric tractor, the tableau also spotlighted the intricate distillation unit used for extracting essential oil from lavender flowers. Lavender oil, a prized commodity fetching a minimum of Rs 10,000 per liter, stands as the cornerstone of the purple revolution.
The revolution doesn't stop there; it encompassed a diverse range of products including medicines, incense sticks, soaps, and air fresheners, all derived from the lavender harvest.
The officials affirmed, The inclusion of purple revolution in the Republic Day tableau not only honors the innovative spirit of Indian farmers but also highlights the vital role of scientific research and industrial collaboration in driving agricultural progress and economic growth.
