Doordarshan is set to relaunch its agricultural channel, DD Kisan, on May 26th.
This relaunch comes with a twist: AI anchors. AI Krish and AI Bhoomi, the channel's new virtual presenters, mark a first for an Indian government channel.
DD Kisan, first launched in 2015, has served as a vital resource for Indian farmers.
The channel, aimed at educating rural audiences, focuses on balanced crop farming, animal husbandry, and village development.
The relaunch promises a fresh look, updated content, and, most notably, the constant presence of AI anchors.
These virtual presenters boast the ability to deliver agricultural news 24/7, providing real-time updates on research, market prices, weather alerts, and government schemes.
Perhaps most impressive is their multilingual capacity – AI Krish and AI Bhoomi can communicate in 50 different Indian and foreign languages.
The Ministry of Agriculture highlighted this unique feature, stating, "From Kashmir to Kanyakumari, and Gujarat to Arunachal, these AI anchors will bridge the language gap and disseminate vital agricultural information directly to farmers."
