Samsung Electronics has announced plans to kickstart laptop manufacturing operations at its Noida plant later this year.

The disclosure came from TM Roh, the President and Head of the MX business at Samsung, during his visit to India on Monday. Roh highlighted India's pivotal role in Samsung's global production network.

"We will start manufacturing laptops this year at the Noida factory. Preparations are already underway," Roh stated, underlining the company's commitment to expanding its manufacturing footprint in India.

Roh also took the opportunity to underscore the significance of artificial intelligence (AI) in Samsung's latest offerings, particularly the recently launched Galaxy S24 series. He described the latest smartphone lineup as a testament to Samsung's vision for the mobile AI era, emphasizing the evolving landscape of AI applications and their potential to redefine user experiences.

"As you are aware, mobile AI or AI itself has not been completed yet and only keeps developing to open new possibilities, experiences and ecosystems," Roh remarked, hinting at the continuous evolution of AI technology and its pivotal role in shaping future consumer interactions with devices.

The Samsung executive outlined the company's anticipation of growing consumer adoption of Galaxy AI, the suite of AI applications integrated into the Galaxy S24 phones. He emphasized Samsung's commitment to investing substantial resources into developing and maintaining Galaxy AI, with an eye towards meeting evolving consumer needs and demands.

"Despite the enormous resources invested as well as the costs involved in developing and providing these capabilities, we feel that it is more important for the customers to be able to enjoy the experiences and the new possibilities brought by the Galaxy AI," Roh explained.

To further incentivize consumer engagement with Galaxy AI, Roh revealed that Samsung would provide these capabilities free of cost to customers until 2025. This strategic decision underscores Samsung's dedication to fostering a seamless user experience and maximizing the value proposition of its products in the competitive smartphone market.

Samsung's announcement regarding laptop manufacturing in India aligns with the government's 'Make in India' initiative, which aims to promote domestic manufacturing and position India as a global manufacturing hub. With the integration of AI technology into its product ecosystem, Samsung aims to stay at the forefront of innovation and cater to the evolving needs of tech-savvy consumers worldwide.
