The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has announced its latest innovation: Falcon AI. Developed by the UAE's Technology Innovation Institute (TII), Falcon AI is set to challenge the dominance of big tech companies with its advanced capabilities and open-source accessibility.
The TII recently announced the release of Falcon 2 11B and 2 11B VLM, the newest iterations of its AI models.
These models, which the institute claims surpass Meta's latest Llama 3 model, come with groundbreaking features and unprecedented flexibility.
One of the standout features of Falcon 2 11B VLM is its visual-to-language capability, enabling it to analyze images and generate descriptive captions—a functionality that holds immense potential across various industries such as healthcare, finance, education, and law.
Moreover, both Falcon models are designed for efficiency, capable of running on a single graphics processing unit (GPU).
With Falcon's multilingual capabilities supporting English, French, German, Spanish, and Portuguese, the TII aims to foster widespread adoption and global collaboration in AI development.
Looking ahead, the TII has ambitious plans to enhance Falcon's capabilities further with a Mixture of Experts (MoE) feature. This upgrade aims to enhance Falcon's accuracy and reliability, catering to industry-specific demands and niche prompts.
