Former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau leaves Parliament with chair in farewell gesture.

Justin Trudeau marked his departure from Parliament in a lighthearted yet symbolic manner, carrying a chair with him as he exited.

In a widely shared moment, the former Canadian Prime Minister was seen leaving with his tongue sticking out, a gesture that sparked both amusement and speculation about his political future.

As per tradition, departing Members of Parliament in Canada are allowed to take their seats with them when they leave.

Political columnist Brian Lilley of the Toronto Sun noted this in a post, calling it a meaningful tradition while also hinting at the possibility of an impending election.

Trudeau's departure follows his recent resignation as both Prime Minister and leader of the Liberal Party. In his final remarks before stepping down, he reflected on the achievements of his decade-long leadership and expressed pride in the progress made under the Liberal Party.

Speaking at the Liberal Leadership Convention, he emphasised the importance of continuing to work for the middle class and maintaining Canada’s global standing.

His resignation on January 6 came amid growing discontent over his government's handling of key domestic issues, including the housing crisis and rising costs of living.

As Trudeau steps aside, Canada prepares for new leadership under Mark Carney, who was elected on Sunday to lead the Liberal Party into the upcoming federal elections.

Carney, a former central banker, now faces the challenge of guiding Canada through pressing economic concerns, including trade tensions with the United States. In his first remarks as Prime Minister-designate, he called for unity and vowed to build a stronger Canada.
