Tickets for the highly anticipated World Test Championship (WTC) final between South Africa and Australia at Lord’s are set to go on sale starting January 31, 2025.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) made the announcement, inviting cricket fans from across the globe to secure their seats for the much-awaited clash.
Australia, the reigning champions, earned their spot in the final after defeating India 3-1 in the recent Border-Gavaskar series. On the other hand, South Africa booked their place by comfortably beating Pakistan 2-0 in their home series, ensuring that they will compete in the final for the first time.
The match is scheduled to begin on June 11, 2025, and will take place at Lord's, one of the most iconic cricket grounds in the world.
Tickets for the WTC Final will be available for purchase from 10 am GMT (UK time) and 3:30 pm IST on January 31. However, priority fans, including the ICC family, will have exclusive access to tickets through a 48-hour priority window, starting at 10 am GMT on January 29.
The ICC has set ticket prices for this year's final, starting at £45 for adults and £15 for children under 16. These tickets can be purchased via the official website, worldtestchampionship.com.
Anurag Dahiya, the ICC’s Chief Commercial Officer, expressed his excitement about the event.
He said, “We are delighted to make tickets available for the highly anticipated ICC World Test Championship Final at Lord’s.
The ICC World Test Championship has produced a number of absorbing clashes over the past two years, and this Ultimate Test promises to provide more unrivalled drama on the biggest stage.”
Dahiya also encouraged fans to act quickly, warning that tickets would sell out fast for what promises to be a thrilling contest between two of the world’s top teams.
The WTC Final will see South Africa, led by Temba Bavuma, aiming for their first-ever World Test Championship Mace, while Australia, captained by Pat Cummins, will defend the title they won in 2023.
The match will be a special occasion for both teams, as it will take place at Lord’s, often referred to as the “Home of Cricket,” and one of the most revered sporting venues worldwide.
Bavuma reflected on the significance of the final, saying, “It’s been a month since we secured our spot in the ICC World Test Championship Final, and the support we’ve received from our fans has been incredible. There’s a real sense of anticipation and pride across South Africa as we look forward to playing against one of the best teams in the world.”
He added that facing Australia at Lord’s makes the occasion even more special, inviting South African fans to grab their tickets and be part of the historic event.
For Australia’s captain Pat Cummins, returning to Lord’s holds a special place in his heart. “We are very keen to get back to Lord’s again – so many great memories. Our guys have worked hard to get to this point, which has been a focus for us across the WTC cycle,” he said.
Cummins also noted the incredible support the team received from Australian fans during their recent matches in Australia and expressed hope that the same enthusiasm would be seen in London, either from Australians travelling to the UK or from the expat community.
