In a surprising turn of events, the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) has decided not to contest the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections. The decision comes just two days after the party had announced its intention to fight independently on six seats.
According to sources, the move stems from growing mistrust between JMM and its allies the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and the Congress over seat-sharing arrangements. JMM has accused both parties of betrayal and political conspiracy.
Sources said the JMM had staked a claim to six to twelve constituencies along the Jharkhand–Bihar border. However, the RJD rejected its demands and allegedly conspired to keep JMM out of the electoral fray, depriving it of adequate representation.

Tensions escalated after JMM declared its plan to contest independently, prompting the RJD to field its candidates in Chakai and Katoria — seats that JMM had been eyeing.
Calling it an attack on its self-respect, JMM leaders said the party had been repeatedly deceived by its supposed allies.
In the Jharkhand Assembly, the Congress currently holds 16 seats and the RJD has four MLAs, both of which are part of the ruling coalition with JMM.
However, following the latest developments, speculation is rife that JMM may soon bring changes within its state cabinet.
