Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday launched a fierce attack on the RJD-Congress Mahagatbandhan during his address in Bihar, accusing the opposition of resorting to “political gundagardi” and claiming that the RJD had seized the chief minister’s post from the Congress “at gunpoint.”
“RJD ne Congress ki kanpatti par katta rakhkar CM pad chura liya,” PM Modi declared, alleging that a political power play had taken place “behind closed doors” just days before the state heads into elections.
The Prime Minister said the Congress was unwilling to let an RJD leader become chief minister, but the RJD “forced” the decision. “Congress didn’t want an RJD leader to be CM, but RJD didn’t let go of the opportunity. They forced the announcement at gunpoint,” he said, drawing loud cheers from the audience.
Continuing his criticism, Modi described the opposition alliance as a “divided house,” saying both parties were locked in an internal feud.
“Main aapko ek andar ki baat batane ja raha hu. Congress aur RJD mein ghamasaan macha hua hai, aur aisa lagta hai chunaav ke baad, ye ek dusre ka sar phod denge,” Modi remarked, suggesting deep discord within the Mahagatbandhan.
PM Modi also took a sharp jibe at the Congress with a reference to Pakistan, invoking “Operation Sindoor.”

He alleged that the Congress leadership was uneasy during military operations against Pakistan. “Dhamake Pakistan mein ho rahe the, Congress ke ‘shahi parivar’ ki neend ud jaati thi,” Modi said, suggesting that the party’s “royal family” was disturbed whenever India acted firmly against Pakistan.
Modi’s remarks in Bihar marked one of his most pointed verbal assaults on the RJD-Congress alliance ahead of the upcoming polls, framing the opposition as power-hungry and divided while accusing them of lacking national resolve.
His use of sharp metaphors such as “kanpatti pe katta” and “band kamra” further underscored his effort to portray the ruling alliance’s political manoeuvres as coercive and opportunistic.
The speech comes as the election atmosphere intensifies in Bihar, with both the NDA and the opposition bloc ramping up their campaigns through rallies and counter-allegations.
Modi’s statements are expected to spark strong reactions from opposition leaders in the coming days, potentially heightening the political temperature in the state.
