Former Bihar Chief Minister and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Rabri Devi on Thursday expressed confidence in her son and Mahagathbandhan Chief Ministerial face Tejashwi Yadav’s victory in the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections, saying that the people of the state have already made up their minds to elect him as the next Chief Minister.
Rabri Devi said that Tejashwi Yadav has earned the trust of the people through his dedication and commitment to public welfare. “The public of Bihar has made up their mind to make Tejashwi Yadav the Chief Minister of Bihar. He is a youth and a new leader. Tejashwi Yadav fulfils what he says,” she remarked.
When asked about her elder son and expelled RJD leader Tej Pratap Yadav, who is contesting separately as part of the Janshakti Janta Dal (JJD), Rabri Devi said, “He is right at his place (theek hai, apne jagah pe theek hai woh),” indicating that she harbours no resentment over his independent political path.
The Mahagathbandhan, a grand alliance of opposition parties in Bihar, has already announced Tejashwi Yadav as its Chief Ministerial candidate and Mukesh Sahani as the Deputy Chief Minister face for the 2025 Assembly elections.
On Tuesday, the alliance released its manifesto titled ‘Bihar Ka Tejashwi Pran’ during a joint press conference in Patna, outlining its key promises for governance and development.
Earlier in the day, Tejashwi Yadav accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) of exploiting Bihar for electoral gains while diverting industrial investments to Gujarat.
He said that the 2025 elections offer an opportunity for the people of Bihar to “drive out” the NDA government and pave the way for genuine progress.
“Political parties exploit Bihar for votes and establish industries in Gujarat, keeping Bihar captive. This election, people have an opportunity to drive them out for the state’s progress. I appeal to the citizens of Bihar to unite and prevent these parties from returning to power,” Yadav told reporters.

The RJD leader also accused the state government of attempting to sway voters by depositing money into the bank accounts of women under the Mukhyamantri Mahila Udyami Scheme, which provides a grant of Rs 10,000 to women entrepreneurs.
“The government is distributing money to women’s accounts, alleging it as a bribe before the election, but how can the Election Commission permit this?” Yadav questioned, calling it an unethical attempt to influence voters.
Tejashwi Yadav further criticised Union Home Minister Amit Shah, saying he had “never seen a home minister who cites the lack of land as a reason for not setting up industries in Bihar.”
He accused the Centre of deliberately neglecting Bihar’s industrial potential and failing to deliver on its promises of employment and development.
Bihar will go to the polls in two phases on November 6 and 11, with the results to be announced on November 14. The upcoming election is expected to be a high-stakes contest between the NDA and the Mahagathbandhan, as both alliances vie for control of the politically crucial state.
