Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his newly elected UK counterpart, Keir Starmer, engaged in a significant discussion on Saturday, committing to expedite the completion of a mutually advantageous India-UK free trade agreement.

 

PM Modi extended his congratulations to Starmer on his remarkable electoral victory and assumption of office. 

 

The dialogue highlighted the historical ties between India and the UK, with both leaders expressing their determination to deepen and enhance the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

 

They acknowledged the substantial contributions of the Indian community to the UK's social, economic, and political spheres and pledged to continue fostering these close people-to-people connections.

In a statement on social media platform X, Modi remarked, "Pleased to speak with @Keir_Starmer. Congratulated him on being elected as the Prime Minister of the UK.
