Several cars were damaged during an election rally supporting BJP's Lok Sabha candidate and Union minister, Sanjeev Balyan, in the Khatauli area of Muzaffarnagar district, according to police reports on Sunday.
The incident occurred while Balyan was addressing the rally in Madhkarimpur village on Saturday night. Unidentified individuals threw stones at parked vehicles, shattering their windows, as Balyan spoke.
Additional Superintendent of Police (city), Satyanarayan Prajapat, stated that the attackers also raised slogans during the incident. Law enforcement authorities are currently conducting a search to apprehend the perpetrators, with additional police personnel deployed in the village for security.
Sudhir Saini, the BJP's district unit president, condemned the violence and urged for strict action against those responsible.
Balyan is contesting in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections from the Muzaffarnagar parliamentary constituency, scheduled for voting in the first phase on April 19.
