Former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot alleged on Wednesday that a helicopter carrying Congress leaders was denied permission to fly to the Bikaner Range, a claim that added fuel to the ongoing political heat in the state.
Speaking at the nomination filing rally of Congress candidate Govindram Meghwal for the Bikaner Lok Sabha seat, Gehlot asserted, "Our helicopter was halted in Jaipur and was not given clearance to proceed to the Bikaner Range."
Gehlot further urged BJP candidate Arjun Ram Meghwal to initiate an investigation into the matter to ascertain why the helicopter was grounded. "While helicopters crisscross the skies of India for the impending elections, our chopper was barred from flying," Gehlot emphasized.
State Congress chief Govind Singh Dotasra echoed Gehlot's sentiments, stating, "We had to resort to traveling by car from Jaipur to Bikaner after our helicopter was denied the green light to take off."
Dotasra added that following the pilot's refusal to fly, they hastily made their way to Bikaner by road, considering the anticipation of thousands of party supporters eagerly awaiting their arrival.
The alleged incident of the denied flight permission injected a fresh angle into the political discourse surrounding the elections in Rajasthan, highlighting the heightened tensions between rival parties vying for supremacy in the region.
