AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi is set to receive a notice for alleged communal remarks made during a public address at the PDM Nyay Morcha gathering in Varanasi on April 25. The notice will be issued by an additional returning officer on behalf of the district election officer.
The complaint was lodged by Kashi region BJP legal cell convenor Shashank Shekhar Tripathi with the Election Commission, alleging that AIMIM chief Owaisi delivered communal statements during a public meeting in Varanasi.
Confirming the reception of the complaint, Additional Returning Officer Sub-Divisional Magistrate Neeraj Patel stated that following an initial investigation, a notice is being prepared for Owaisi.
During the gathering, Owaisi reportedly proclaimed Mukhtar Ansari, who died in judicial custody, as a "martyr," asserting that individuals like him never die. He criticized the BJP government, attributing responsibility for their protection to it, and accused it of failing in this regard.
Additionally, Owaisi aimed sharp criticism at Prime Minister Narendra Modi and SP president Akhilesh Yadav during his 40-minute discourse.
