In anticipation of a planned protest by AAP leaders and workers in the national capital on Sunday, the Delhi Police has intensified security measures, officials confirmed.
This preemptive action follows AAP's decision to stage a candle march and burn an effigy of the BJP government in response to the recent arrest of party supremo and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal by the Enforcement Directorate (ED).
"We have received intelligence regarding a protest organised by AAP members. To maintain law and order, we have bolstered security across the national capital. Paramilitary forces will be deployed in coordination with Delhi Police personnel.
"Senior officers will closely monitor the situation in their respective districts. Station House Officers (SHOs) have been instructed to maintain strict vigilance and promptly report any protest activity to their superiors," stated a senior police official.
Stringent security measures, including heavy personnel deployment and multi-layer barricading, have been implemented on routes leading to key locations such as the BJP headquarters and the ED office, where AAP members are expected to gather for the protest.
Paramilitary personnel, equipped with anti-riot gear, have been positioned to uphold law and order during the demonstration.
In addition, the traffic police have been assigned to ensure smooth traffic flow throughout Delhi and promptly implement diversions if necessary during the protest march organised by AAP.
To fortify security arrangements, roads leading to both the BJP headquarters and the ED office in central Delhi have been closed off.
