Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and Leader of Opposition in Bihar Tejaswi Prasad Yadav had a narrow escape on Monday when a stage partially collapsed during a rally in at Paliganj in Patna district.
Gandhi was at Paliganj to campaign for Misa Bharti, daughter of RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav, who is contesting the Patliputra Lok Sabha seat.
Shortly after Gandhi, Tejaswi Yadav, and Bharti reached the makeshift stage, it partially collapsed at the centre due to overloading.
Special Protection Group (SPG) and other security personnel swiftly moved to protect Gandhi, who waved to the crowd, assuring them he was unhurt.
Bharti, holding Gandhi's hand, moved towards one end of the stage when another portion collapsed, but both leaders remained unharmed.
Tejaswi Yadav, who has an issue with his lower limbs, was assisted away by supporters.
The stage was reinforced with alternative arrangements to ensure safety, allowing the leaders to continue.
Gandhi had addressed a rally in Bakhtiyarpur in the Patna Sahib constituency earlier in the day before arriving in Paliganj.
Despite the incident, the rally proceeded without further issues.
