A Delhi-based tourist guide was shot at and critically injured in a suspected terror attack in Heerpora in Kashmir’s Shopian on Monday evening, sources said.
The attack took place when militants fired upon a hotel, injuring the guide, identified as Dilranjan Singh, 45.
Singh, a resident of Delhi, had driven to Heerapora with two German nationals when their group was attacked.
He was moved to Srinagar’s SMHS hospital for treatment.
The attack was reportedly carried out by Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorist Shahid Kutte.
The two tourists, Adgar Zil, male, and Silly Raber, female, are safe.
The attack took place at Danish Resorts in Heerpora. Eyewitnesses said the tourists were having dinner with the guide when armed men entered the resort and fired at him.
Joint teams of security forces sealed the area and carried out cordon and search operations.
A police statement on X later said, “A Taxi driver was fired upon by terrorists in Heerpora Shopian and got injured. The search operation is going on.”
Earlier, In February, two non-locals were killed in Srinagar when unidentified men opened fire on them. One of the victims, Amritpal Singh, a resident of Amritsar, died the same day.
The other victim, Rohit, succumbed to his injuries a day later in hospital.
