The police have reportedly arrested a man for allegedly killing his daughter at Samastipur, Bihar, on Thursday. The victim, a 25-year-old girl, had fled to Delhi with her boyfriend.
The body of the victim, identified as Sakshi, was recovered from a locked washroom in their residence on Wednesday night. She was allegedly murdered on April 7.
The accused, Mukesh Singh, had allegedly visited the boy’s village to kill him but the latter had already fled the spot.
According to Vipin Kumar, Sakshi's maternal uncle, the girl and her boyfriend, who was from a different caste and lived close to her home, escaped to Delhi on March 4. The two had attended the same college together.
Mukesh, who is said to be an ex-serviceman, had convinced his daughter to come back to Samastipur from Delhi last week. However, she disappeared a few days later.
When the girl’s mother questioned him, he said she had fled the house again. She later became suspicious and informed the police.
The police then started a probe and noticed a foul smell coming from a locked washroom at their house. They then found her body.
When the police questioned him, Mukesh admitted to the crime.
