The White Knight Corps has paid tributes and expressed grief over the death of Lieutenant Beereshwar Goswami, who lost his life while undertaking operational duties during an anti-terror operation in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district, officials said on Sunday.
The officer died after slipping in a mountainous area and falling into a deep gorge during the anti-terror operation in Rajouri on Saturday.
General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the White Knight Corps, Lieutenant General P K Mishra, along with all ranks, paid homage to the officer, describing his sacrifice as an enduring inspiration for the armed forces.
According to official sources, the army officer died while he was part of the anti-terror operation. The officer was a member of the security forces search team undertaking Operation Sheruwali, which has now entered its 15th day on Sunday.
The operation is being carried out in the Dorimaal and Gambhir Mughalan areas to locate two to three Pakistani terrorists believed to be hiding in the forests of Rajouri district.
According to officials, the officer slipped and fell into a 30-metre-deep gorge in the Dorimaal area while participating in the search operation. He later succumbed to his injuries.
The operation is continuing to track down the terrorists believed to be hiding in the forest areas.
Earlier, security agencies and regional experts had stated that the terrorists operating in the Jammu division include Pakistan Army regulars along with other highly trained militants in mountainous warfare.
