Cabinet Secretary, Dr T V Somanathan, today, addressed the ongoing Army Commanders’ Conference being held in New Delhi, highlighting ‘strategic priorities’ essential for the nation’s operational preparedness. He also spoke about the Indian government’s ‘Atmanirbhar’ initiative, particularly emphasising the achievements of this mission in the country’s defence sector and its use of AI.  
 
The Army Commanders’ Conference (ACC) is a biannual, high-level forum convened in April and October, where India’s senior military leadership deliberates on key operational, strategic, and policy matters.
 
“He emphasised the critical need for the development of sovereign AI models and highlighted the significance of resilient supply chains in an evolving geopolitical landscape. He also underscored the importance of enhanced civil-military cooperation and stressed that a whole-of-nation approach is imperative for achieving optimal outcomes in both conflict and peacetime scenarios,” wrote the official ‘X’ handle of the Indian Army.
 
“During his interaction with the audience, he spoke of Atmanirbharta not just as a policy, but as a mindset, where every sector, every institution, and every citizen contributes to building a self-reliant, resilient India,” the post read.
 
On Monday, the Indian Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi, while addressing the conference in the presence of the senior military officials, focused on the key aspects of the current security situation of the country, emphasising the maritime domain.
 
“He underscored the critical importance of safeguarding sea lines of communication and ensuring the uninterrupted flow of energy and trade, reaffirming the Indian Navy’s proactive role in securing vital shipping routes,” the post added.
 
“The CNS also emphasised the evolving nature of threats, including the growing use of emerging technologies in modern warfare and the need for enhanced preparedness. He highlighted that effective response to contemporary security challenges demands greater synergy among the tri-services, which will be further strengthened through theaterisation,” it added.
