GOC Northern Command Lieutenant General Pratik Sharma today visited remote and forward formations and units posted in North Kashmir and reviewed operational readiness and overall preparedness of forces in the region. He was briefed by senior army officials on the prevailing situation in the region.
He lauded the troops for their steadfastness and dedication while praising their commitment in keeping the region free of terror and ensuring peace and stability amid the prevailing challenges.
This is the third visit to Jammu and Kashmir in 2026, where he has visited the forward areas and took stock of the prevailing security situation along the International Border (IB) and Line of Control (LoC).
While based in Udhampur, Jammu, his visits to the Kashmir Valley (15 Corps or Chinar Corps area) have been focused on the synergy of troops and security agencies for maintaining peace and security in the region.
On February 20, he visited North Kashmir to review the terror and counter-infiltration grid and assessed the overall preparedness of troops along the Line of Control.
He attended the concluding ceremony of the Chinar Open Winter Games 2026 in Gulmarg, where he interacted with local and national athletes on February 21.
Meanwhile, Indian armed forces have maintained strict control over the border and Line of Control and thwarted several infiltration attempts, leading to the killing of multiple infiltrators, while the forces have gunned down terrorists inside Jammu and Kashmir.
