Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh met German Ambassador Dr Philipp Ackermann on Thursday in New Delhi, discussing defence ties and issues persisting.
“They also discussed a range of bilateral security and defence issues, including priority areas for co-development & co-production of defence equipment,” said the Ministry of Defence (MoD) in a post on ‘X’.
It is to be noted that India and Germany have been enhancing their defence relations, specifically focusing on co-development and co-production of advanced military tech (like submarines and LiDAR systems). Along with this, both countries are expanding joint exercises like — Tarang Shakti, Milan and deepening maritime security cooperation, marking a key pillar in their 25-year Strategic Partnership, despite historical limitations in German power projection.
Meanwhile, the High Defence Committee meetings between the officials of the two nations have charted an ambitious agenda to boost industrial ties, military-to-military dialogues, and collaboration on dual-use technologies for a more secure Indo-Pacific.
