Reports indicate that India is expected to receive the delivery of the fourth S-400 long-range air defence squadron from Russia by May this year. Moscow has confirmed the delivery, with the final fifth batch to arrive in 2027.
The delivery is set to coincide with the anniversary month of ‘Operation Sindoor’, during which the S-400 system helped India prevail in the four-day military conflict with Pakistan. It downed Pakistani missiles during the May conflict.
S-400 demonstrated India’s air-defence system strength during the operation and countered incoming aerial threats. It is one of the world’s most advanced air defense systems, capable of tracking and destroying aircraft, drones, and ballistic missiles up to 400 km away.
