The Indian Army has inaugurated a new tourist facility at Namgya in the Shipki La sector of Himachal Pradesh, aiming to promote border tourism. The facility follows the concept of a sustainable model of community upliftment, enhancing comfort and access for travellers.
“Reinforcing the idea that secure borders can also be engines of progress, the
#IndianArmy dedicated a Tourist Facility, opening new avenues for border tourism and local development in Himachal Pradesh,” read a post of the Army’s Surya Command.
The tourist facility has been dedicated by Lt Gen DG Misra, GOC Uttar Bharat.
“Earnings generated will be channelled towards online coaching from reputed institutions for meritorious students of Namgya, Khab and Tashigang villages, directly linking tourism with education and empowerment. A meaningful step in strengthening military–civil synergy, nurturing aspirations of border youth and advancing inclusive development in some of the most remote frontier regions of the Nation,” the post further added.
