Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Friday laid the foundation stone for infrastructure related to the Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) project worth nearly Rs 16,000 crore in Sri Sathya Sai district.
According to an official release, the AMCA project, which is expected to play a key role in strengthening India’s indigenous defence manufacturing capabilities, will create around 7,500 employment opportunities in the region.
“The Chief Minister, Defence Minister and Minister Lokesh jointly laid the foundation for the Rs 15,803-crore AMCA project,” the release stated.
Apart from the AMCA initiative, Singh and Naidu also inaugurated and laid foundation stones for several other defence-related projects, including drone city initiatives aimed at boosting advanced aerospace and defence technology infrastructure in Andhra Pradesh.

The event highlighted the state government’s efforts to attract large-scale investments in the defence and aerospace sectors and position Andhra Pradesh as a major hub for military manufacturing and innovation.
Following the foundation-laying ceremony, the dignitaries visited a special exhibition showcasing a range of defence equipment and technologies. The display included missiles, hand grenades, advanced firearms, a fighter jet prototype and several other indigenous defence products and systems.
Senior officials, defence personnel and industry representatives were also present during the programme.
