Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan announced that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will distribute sanction letters and transfer the first PMAY-G instalment at a national event in Odisha on September 17.

Around 10 lakh beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Gramin (PMAY-G) in states such as Jharkhand, Gujarat, and Odisha will receive sanction letters and their first instalment under the government’s rural housing scheme next week, Union Minister for Rural Development Shivraj Singh Chouhan announced.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to distribute the sanction letters and transfer the initial instalment of PMAY-G funds during a national-level event in Odisha on September 17. The PM will digitally transfer Rs 3,180 crore directly into the bank accounts of the beneficiaries, with 26 lakh people moving into their newly completed homes.

As part of the programme, the Prime Minister will also launch the “Awas + 2024” app, designed to include eligible beneficiaries in the list to ensure the allocation of pucca houses.

For Odisha, the Ministry of Rural Development revealed a target of 22,572 houses, with Rs 41.32 crore already allocated for this financial year.

On September 15, the Prime Minister will issue sanction letters to around 20,000 beneficiaries in Jharkhand, transferring over Rs 5 crore directly into their accounts. A housewarming ceremony will also be held for 46,000 beneficiaries with newly built homes.

The ministry noted that Jharkhand has been allocated 1,13,195 houses, and Rs 187.79 crore has been released for the ongoing financial year. In Gujarat, where more than 6.50 lakh houses have been built over the past decade, the state has been targeted to construct 54,135 houses this year, with Rs 99.1 crore disbursed so far.

On September 16, the Prime Minister will transfer approximately Rs 93 crore to the accounts of 31,000 beneficiaries in Gujarat, and a housewarming ceremony will be held for 35,000 newly constructed homes.

Launched in 2016, PMAY-G is a flagship initiative aiming to provide "Housing for All" by 2024. It seeks to build 2.95 crore pucca houses with essential amenities for homeless households and those living in kutcha or dilapidated homes in rural areas.
